Alan is Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Sixth Street, a leading global investment firm. Founded in 2009, Sixth Street manages over $70 billion in assets with 320 team members in nine offices around the world.

Prior to founding Sixth Street, Alan was a Partner at Goldman Sachs and Chief Investment Officer of its largest proprietary investing business. Sixth Street continues an investment philosophy Mr. Waxman and Sixth Street’s founding partner group began developing over 20 years ago while building complementary businesses to invest Goldman’s capital in public and private markets across the capital structure in companies, assets, and idiosyncratic opportunities.

He holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania and currently serves on the Board of Overseers for the University of Pennsylvania College of Arts and Sciences. He also serves on the Board of Directors for The Tipping Point Community and the Advisory Council for the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula, which are both focused on fighting poverty and inequality of opportunity in the San Francisco Bay Area.
